Corporate Responsibility
Canandia is committed to corporate responsibility in every aspect of our business and throughout our operations. We believe a major corporation must be ethical and responsible.
Responsible Operations
As a responsible operator we are accountable to our employees, the communities with whom we work and the environment in which we operate. These responsibilities guide us in our efforts to understand and comply with all government and environmental laws and regulations. Canandia has reached out to our neighbours and friends in the First Nations Bands around our Agassiz facility for consultations and to notify them personally of upcoming employment opportunities. We will always remember who was in Canada first.
Responsibilities to Our Employees
A living wage is the hourly amount a family needs to cover basic expenses. It’s higher than minimum wage, and is the minimum limit we have voluntarily set for our lowest paid employees. At Canandia we believe that everyone has the right to work. This is why we invested in a company shuttle bus to transport our employees who don’t drive. We also provide our employees with a free healthy hot lunch every day, freshly cooked at our facility cafeteria. We care about our employees – knowing that happy growers make happy plants make happy customers. Canandia’ facility in Agassiz BC is located on a large parcel of land on the shores of the mighty Fraser river. Our private white sandy beach spans 1,500′, and has been equipped with picnic tables, a sound system, and a walking trail, for the enjoyment of our employees during their breaks at our remote and secluded forested location.
Safety
Occupational safety and health are our primary concerns at all times. This applies to our people as well as the local communities in which we operate.
Ethics in Business
All our employees are expected to conduct their work for Canandia fairly and ethically, and in a manner that enhances our business reputation.
Environmentally Friendly Facilities
We are all global citizens and we strive to meet and surpass all environmental regulations in the communities in which we operate. That is why Canandia’s facilities are industry leading in sustainability.
- Our buildings are insulated to high thermal values, substantially reducing the need for heating and cooling, thereby significantly reducing our energy demands.
- The clean water we use for growing is pumped from our underground aquifers making our water consumption 100% self-sustained.
- All waste plant material is composted generating nutrient rich fertilizer, which is then used to nourish our organic coconut fibre grow medium, enriching it with microbial life essential to the biological farming methods Canandia employs.
- As with any pharmaceutical grade cannabis facility, Canandia’s largest energy demand on the environment is the need for electrical power. Our location in British Columbia provides us with electrical power produced by BC Hydro, a company that generates hydro-electricity from water and not from burning fossil fuels or nuclear fusion. Another reason why we can truly call our facilities “Green”.
